As I’m sure you’ve already heard the Pope is paying DC a visit. While many are looking forward to this event many others will be stuck in traffic and those who use the metro rails will have to share it with an expected 25,000 extra people.
Here are some of the streets that will be closed:
- Pennsylvania Avenue from 17th Street Northwest to Rock Creek Parkway: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Cross streets one block north and one block south of Pennsylvania Avenue: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Rock Creek Parkway from Pennsylvania Avenue to Waterside Drive (Massachusetts Avenue): 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Massachusetts Avenue from Columbia Avenue to Observatory Circle (South): 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Fourth Street from 3211 Fourth Street to Michigan Avenue: 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Michigan Avenue from Monroe to Irving Street: 4:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Pope arrives tomorrow (4/15) and will leave DC on Friday (4/18). His trip includes meeting with the President at the White House, a Mass at Nationals Stadium and a tour in DC in the Popemobile.
